Very few families of pizza chefs have pass through XIX and XX centurys to the present day to pass on to the future generations the experiences and the memories.
The Mattozzi family is one of them which founded the Restaurant Pizzeria in Largo Carità (today Piazza Salvo D’Acquisto) more than 150 years ago.
Today with Paolo Surace we are at the fourth generation of pizza chefs.

Raffaele Surace is the co-founder of the AVPN which started in 1984 and since then he has been the vice president and Mattozzi Restaurant Pizzeria is affiliated member number 2.
Over the years, many have tried to lay claim to the birth and the history of the Pizza, yet no one has succeeded, thanks also to the hard work of the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, a non-profit association which since 1984, protects this typical dish and promotes it all over the world.
In Naples, capital of the Pizza, the Centenary Pizzerias unite in an association , to continue their mission to protect of the ancient product, so famous and widespread all over the world.
